2018 Cattle Drives

(Multiple Dates Available)

Join us for one of our Longhorn Cattle Drives in 2018!

Cattle Drive Description

The Cattle Drives starts in the morning (usually at 9:00) from our Ranch Headquarters at Clements, KS, unless otherwise noted. The drive length and activities included will vary from drive to drive depending on what the herd needs at the time.  They are typically 8 – 10 miles long through pastures and along country roads and will take 3 – 4 hours. We will be driving between 50 and 150 head of Longhorn Cattle through some of the most scenic areas of the Flint Hills.

The drives take place rain or shine.

Flying W owns all of the horses that we use on the ranch. Our horses are seasoned veterans that have been used extensively on the ranch for cattle work. Many of our horses are born and spend their entire lives here.

Ranch owners and hosts, Josh, Gwen, and Josie Hoy, will provide breakfast, guide you on the trail and feed you a hearty meal of locally grown food prepared by Cowboy Chef, Josh Hoy, at the end of the drive.

Jim Hoy, Josh’s father, who is a Professor at Emporia State University often joins in and shares his knowledge of the Cowboy Culture and the Flint Hills history.

**To/From Winter Pasture

These are two of our favorite days of the year.  We will be bringing home our 250 head of Longhorn Cows from their winter pasture in the spring, and returning them in the fall.  It is approximately a 12 mile journey.  This is a bit longer trip with more hours in the saddle than a regular Cattle Drive.  Ranch owners and hosts, Josh, Gwen, and Josie Hoy, will guide this unique event and feed you a hearty lunch when it is over.

Price: $280/per person + applicable tax
