Join us for a weekend of horsemanship instruction and a cattle drive at the Flying W Ranch on Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th. Whether you have never been on a horse or have ridden all of your life this is an opportunity to hone your horsemanship. Come learn from Josh and Gwen Hoy of the Flying W Ranch and Rex Buchman of the Bar U Ranch. Rex is a Flint Hills Cowboy who has specialized in teaching horsemanship to others for years.
There are two primary activities associated with this weekend.
Horsemanship Clinic and Lesson
Friday, April 28th - 2:00pm
You will have the opportunity to learn basic horsemanship skills, how to control your horse through obstacles, and how to control and move cattle from horseback. Supper will be served for all participants following the lessons (around 7:00pm).
Saturday, April 29th - 9:00am
With your newly acquired skills you will have the opportunity to put what you have learned to work. We will conduct a cattle drive with our Longhorn Cattle. Breakfast and lunch will be served before and after the cattle drive. To learn more about our typical cattle drives, visit our Cattle Drive page.
$375 / per person
Number of Guests: Limited to 15
Bringing Your Own Horse
We are allowing guests to bring their own horses to use at the Clinic, and possibly on the Cattle Drive. If we decide your horse is not safe enough for the Cattle Drive, where numerous other riders would be put at risk as well, we will offer you one of our horses to use in the Cattle Drive.
